About Sober Living
Sober living at Trust SoCal provides a safe, structured, and substance-free residential environment for individuals transitioning from intensive treatment back into independent daily life. Located in the Fountain Valley area of Orange County, California, our sober living program is an integral component of the recovery continuum that bridges the gap between the clinical structure of formal treatment and the full independence of living on your own. Trust SoCal's sober living is aligned with our JCAHO-accredited standards of care and is designed to reinforce the skills, habits, and accountability structures that clients develop during residential, PHP, and IOP treatment.
The sober living environment at Trust SoCal is more than simply a drug-free house. It is a community of individuals committed to recovery who support and hold one another accountable. Residents participate in house meetings, share household responsibilities, maintain employment or educational enrollment, and adhere to community guidelines that include curfews, random drug and alcohol testing, and participation in recovery support activities such as 12-step meetings, SMART Recovery, or other peer support groups.
One of the most significant risk factors for relapse in early recovery is returning too quickly to an unsupportive or high-risk living environment. Sober living addresses this risk by providing a structured transition period during which clients can practice independent living skills, build healthy routines, establish employment, and strengthen their recovery support network, all within a safe environment where substance use is not tolerated and accountability is built into the daily structure.
Clinical support continues during the sober living phase. Residents are encouraged to participate in outpatient therapy, either through Trust SoCal's outpatient programs or with an outside provider, and have access to case management services that assist with employment, education, financial planning, and other transitional needs. House managers provide on-site support and serve as a resource for residents navigating the challenges of early independent recovery.
Residents of Trust SoCal's sober living program develop critical life skills including time management, budgeting, conflict resolution, healthy meal planning, and self-care routines. These practical skills complement the clinical and psychological work done in formal treatment and are essential for sustaining long-term recovery. The peer community within the sober living house often becomes a lasting source of friendship, accountability, and mutual support that extends well beyond the formal program duration.
The typical sober living stay ranges from three to twelve months, though some residents choose to remain longer. Length of stay is flexible and based on individual readiness, clinical recommendation, and personal goals. Contact Trust SoCal at (949) 280-8360 to learn more about our sober living options.
